Condolences
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Dunn and family who have lost a father and a grandfather.
Pick up and Drop off Zones
Please make use of our car park to pick up and drop off your daughters. Alternatively you may use the music centre entrance (Primary School only). We are aware that the car park does get congested during peak time, however please do not drop or fetch your daughters on Pandora road as this is an extremely busy road. Your daughters safety is our first priority. Thank you for your co-operation.

The choir sang Button up your overcoat, Songbird and Holding out for a Hero by themselves before singing Gloria and UJesu Unobubelengami. Congratulations
To Pragna Singh in Grade 10 who was invited to play the SA Closed Chess Championship that was held in Bloemfontein at Eunice Girls School from 20 March 2016 to 26 March 2016.This competition is a closed championship and is paticipated solely by invitation by ChessSA. She played 11 rounds consisting of four hours each and was placed 14th out of 21 girls in the under 16 division. This is an excellent result cosidering her age being 14 and playing girls almost 2years older than her and this being the first time that she has been invited to play the closed which is the highest competition in South Africa for junior chess players as only the best in South Africa get to be invited by Chess South Africa to participate at this closed competition.

These schools were Assumption Convent, St Peters, Waterstone, Cornwall Hill, Crawford, St Andrews, Eunice and Krugersdorp High.
The results for these games were:

- ACS 13 - WATERSTONE 13
- ACS 10 - CORNWALL HILL 10
- ACS 15 - CRAWFORD 15
Overall Assumption managed to place 5th out of 32 schools, moving up 4 places from last year.
Thank you to our coach, Mrs Henderson, parents, pupils and past pupils who came to support the girls.
Congratulations to Marilyn Cilengi who was awarded the Best Player of the tournament. Marilyn was also selected as one of the 10 all Star Players.
Netball Camp
On Saturday the 19th of March we attended our annual camp which took place at Camp Discovery. We Departed at 08h45 from Assumption Convent and had our first stop just outside PTA to stock up on any refreshments we might have left behind. Upon our arrival we were allocated our rooms and team photos were taken. At 11h00 all the coaches and managers attended a Strapping & Injury Treatment course with girls doing their warm-ups for their first activity movements and ball skills. Dinner was served by 18h00 followed by a war cry competition, shower time and lights out at 23h00.
On Sunday the day started 06h30 with breakfast and activities underway by 07h50, break at 11h30, a well deserved lunch at 12h00 and back on court by 13h00. The girls played their first match of the camp at 15h00 (4 Games Each) and ended at 17h00.
On Monday the day again got underway at 06h30 with breakfast, straight into Goal Circle Attack, Goal Circle Defence and Team Attack & Defence. By 15h00 all games started again and the girls had to apply all they had learnt within the last 2-3 days, by then we had covered almost the entire court. All coaches gathered for match analysis, strategy and rule discussions, while the girls went on a night march & mini games.
On Tuesday we were up at 06h30 for breakfast, with our warm-ups and team tactics & strategy. Last but not least we watched the Tuks Netball teams play some amazing netball. Jenny Van Dyk personally came over and handed Marilyn Cilengi an invitation to consider applying to Tuks after matric.
A special thanks to Camp Discovery and Boitumelo Mahonza, Tuks Coach Jenny Van Dyk, Organiser Riana Bezuidenhout and coaches Sue Fernandes and Marissa Botha.

Hockey Camp

On Saturday the 2nd of April, 34 girls and 3 coaches packed their gear onto a bus and drove to Camp Discovery north East of Pretoria for a hockey camp. It was a wonderful experience out there in the bush. The facilities and food were of a high standard as is the coaching and facilitating the players received. The program consisted of a combination of training different skills with the university coaches at different stations, doing team building activities such as a muddy obstacle course, a game-drive, bush march, star-gazing, swimming and a social with all the other schools. Each team also played 4 matches of 25 mins each one way. It was very pleasing to see the improvement in team match-play and individual confidence between the first match on Saturday to the last match on Monday morning. Well done to all the girls and thank you to coach Sibi and Wendy for their support. We look forward to progressing further and competing in the league.
