CULTURAL AWARDS NOVEMBER 2019

GRADE 8 ORIENTATION

My experience at Orientation Day was fun and exciting. We got to spend the night in The Convent Hall with some of the teachers, the matrics and the grade eights. We got to play games, watch a movie and we had pizza for dinner. The following day was Orientation Day where we got to meet our new Religion teacher who told us all about Assumption. We then got taught how to keep safe online when using our devices and technology. We played games and enjoyed ourselves. I would like to thank all the matrics and teachers. – Cathleen Lam (Grade 8)

This year’s Orientation Day started with a mix and mingle “Camp Out”. I was very excited to meet the new girls and to finally become part of the High School. The matrics were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. We played games and got to know each other a little better, we ended off the camp with a few games and then an amazing race around the school which helped us find the classes we were going to attend. The matrics made the event so enjoyable and memorable. - Emma Lauf (Grade 8)

Over 13 & 14 January 2020 a Mix and Mingle Camp was help at Assumption Convent for all the Grade 8s. Over the course of the Mix and Mingle Camp some of the teachers and the matrics were able to interact with and get to know the Grade 8s. The Grade 8s and matrics played icebreaker games together, watched a movie and then slept in the Convent Hall. Tuesday brought laughter and fun as the Grade 8s took place in an “Amazing Race” around the high school, completing various challenges while getting to know the high school facilities. Overall both the Grade 8s and matrics were able to have an enjoyable time together as the matrics welcomed the Grade 8s into the Assumption Family. – Genevieve Reid, Head Girl

ALUMNI

Alumni, we want to hear from you..

We will be running a profile post and testimonial of a past pupil every week in our newsletter as well as Facebook and Twitter so please send us your info.
Our alumni serve a very important role within our community and our school.
We would like to know what our former pupils go on to do after they leave Assumption Convent School. Where our Alumni are, what they are doing, who they’ve become, and how Assumption Convent School helped prepare them for university, work and life. The Alumni community is a fantastic network group where memories are shared and where you can reconnect with old friends.
Please share a few memories of what Assumption Convent meant to you (200 words or less). Please also e-mail a recent photo of yourself.
This year we will have a section dedicated to our Alumni in our annual school magazine.
Please send photos and share your news with us via email. Please send us updated contact details, especially email addresses, name changes etc.
Please send all correspondence to: marketing@assumptionconvent.co.za
