RETREATS

We had our Assumption Convent Retreats this week and our girls participated with enjoyment, respect and diligence. A spiritual retreat is an integral part of our Christian community. It is a way of growing closer to God and a way of bringing the faithful together. Each grade experienced different activities, games and prayerful moments. Our retreats are planned in a way in which the girls can escape the stresses of each day, and to join with God in a prayer.

REMINDER OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Kindly note that the Annual General Meeting of Assumption Convent School will take place on Thursday 7 March at 19h00 in the Convent Hall. This will be preceded by a cocktail party at 18h15 in the canteen. We encourage as many Parents as possible to attend this special occasion. At the AGM, parents elect members to the Board of Governors and review school finances and developments over the previous twelve months.  School management will present an overview of plans and goals going into the future, and parents will have the opportunity to raise pertinent questions.
The cocktail party preceding the AGM affords parents and staff some time to meet informally and get to know one another a little better.  We anticipate that proceedings will be concluded by 20h15.
Parents wishing to enquire about standing for election for the Board of Governors are requested to contact our school secretary, Mrs Dunn, by Monday March 4th.  We will be pleased to forward all the necessary information.
It would also be helpful if, at this point, you have questions that you wish to raise at the AGM, to forward these to swalsh@assumptionconvent.co.za
The agenda for the meeting and all other relevant documentation will follow in due course.

ALUMNI

Alumni, we want to hear from you.

We will be running a profile post and testimonial of a past pupil every week in our newsletter as well as Facebook and Twitter so please send us your info.
Our alumni serve a very important role within our community and our school.
We would like to know what our former pupils go on to do after they leave Assumption Convent School. Where our Alumni are, what they are doing, who they’ve become, and how Assumption Convent School helped prepare them for university, work and life.
The Alumni community is a fantastic network group where memories are shared and where you can reconnect with old friends.
Please share a few memories of what Assumption Convent meant to you (200 words or less). Please also e-mail a recent photo of yourself.
This year we will have a section dedicated to our Alumni in our annual school magazine.
Please send photos and share your news with us via email. Please send us updated contact details, especially email addresses, name changes etc.
Please send all correspondence to: marketing@assumptionconvent.co.za

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Our Alumna this week is Lorna Mansell

LORNA MANSELL

I started at Assumption Convent School in 2008 in Grade 5. I left in the middle of grade 10 to emigrate to Australia, Perth to finish my matric and start university.  I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Science - Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, where I will qualify as an Exercise Physiologist.  Assumption gave me the greatest gift- friendship. Friendships that have never wavered despite me moving overseas.  I love telling my children about my fun days spent at Assumption Convent School.
