WELCOME BACK, WISHING EVERYONE A WONDERFUL 2019!
RELIGION
A warm welcome to all our Assumption families. As each girl walks into our loving school, she can consider herself to be one of the special members of our extraordinary family. Jesus welcomed all to follow Him, but especially the children.
Matthew 19:13-15
13 Then the people brought their little children to Jesus so he could put his hands on them[a] and pray for them. His followers told them to stop, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people who are like these children.” 15 After Jesus put his hands on the children, he left there.
Today we celebrated our Primary School Teacher’s Mass. Our prayers are for all our girls and their families, and for our dedicated staff.

CONDOLENCES
Our thoughts and prayers are with the following families whom have lost very close family members:
- Mrs Walsh and Mrs Bondonno who have lost their mother and who was also Mrs Smith's mom-in-law.
- Bianca Strydom – new learnership position at Assumption whose aunt tragically killed.
OPEN DAY 16 FEBRUARY 2019

STAFF MATTERS
- Mrs Luisa Tsatsarolakis will be joining us in Grade 00 in January 2019. She is a caring and experienced ECD professional, and a specialist in sensory integration and creative learning through play. We look forward to all she has to offer.
- We look forward to sharing the experience and willingness of Ms Nontokozo Nkonde, who takes up the position of developing isiZulu as an additional language at ACS.
- Mrs Nadine James takes up the position of Senior Primary and Afrikaans teacher and will look after a Grade 6 class. Mrs James has a lot to offer through her varied teaching experience as well as through her background in business, industrial psychology and project management. She is the parent of two girls currently at ACS and we are very excited to have her join the teaching team.
- Mrs Anso De Klerk, who taught Grade 6 last year, will join us as Grade 6 class teacher in a full-time capacity this year. The girls have so enjoyed her commitment and enthusiasm, and we are looking forward to her continued contributions in other curriculum and extra mural areas within our school.
- Mrs Dayle Lloyd is looking forward to joining Ms Faulha in Grade 3 this year. Mrs Yolanda Swanepoel will take up the position of Grade 4 class teacher. Mrs Angela Moore moves from Grade 2 to join Mrs Janet Brown in Grade 1.
- Ms Bianca Strydom joins ACS as a full-time student intern. Ms Strydom is in her final year of study, and her focus will be within the Foundation Phase. Ms Strydom is also a Dragons Swimming coach, and is looking forward to developing our Primary School swimming, and especially our team swimming skills.

ACADEMICS

We congratulate all our Matrics of 2018. Your self-discipline, commitment and hard work has been richly rewarded. Thank you too, to your parents and families for their support and encouragement. Last but not least, our thanks go to our very diligent, able and caring teaching and support staff. It is gratifying that these superb results have been achieved within the context of a holistic education. Central to this has been the inculcation of immutable values and life skills. Whilst we are proud of what our 2018 Matrics have achieved in academics, on the sports field and on stage; it is exciting to know that this is just the beginning. The best is yet to come. We look forward to following and celebrating the future success of the class of 2018 in their tertiary studies, in their chosen careers and in their personal pursuits. We encourage them to strive to make our world a safer, kinder and happier place. Above all, we wish them happy, purposeful and fulfilling lives.

ALUMNI

Alumni, we want to hear from you.
We will be running a profile post and testimonial of a past pupil every week in our newsletter as well as Facebook and Twitter so please send us your info.
Our alumni serve a very important role within our community and our school.
We would like to know what our former pupils go on to do after they leave Assumption Convent School. Where our Alumni are, what they are doing, who they’ve become, and how Assumption Convent School helped prepare them for university, work and life.
The Alumni community is a fantastic network group where memories are shared and where you can reconnect with old friends.
Please share a few memories of what Assumption Convent meant to you (200 words or less). Please also e-mail a recent photo of yourself.
This year we will have a section dedicated to our Alumni in our annual school magazine.
Please send photos and share your news with us via email. Please send us updated contact details, especially email addresses, name changes etc.
Please send all correspondence to: marketing@assumptionconvent.co.za
Hoping to hear from you soon.
